Ecotoxicological Assessment for pesticides and heavy metals content in soil of Chernihiv Region

Abstract Ecotoxicological status of agricultural land of Chernihiv Region was studied. The pollution of soil by pesticide residues was determined. Preferably, there was no significant change in the environmental indexes of environmental pollution. It is noted isolated cases of exceeding of maximum allowable concentrations of DDT, γ-isomers of HCH and pesticides of sim- triazine group in soils of Ichnyansky and Nijinsky Districts. Content of heavy metals in the soil mostly corresponds to background value, which in turn corresponds to a moderate level of contamination. The tendency to increase in the area of soil contaminated with heavy metals such as lead and cadmium was found. Necessity of systematic observation and control of sod-podzolic soils of Chernihiv Region capable to accumulate of mobile forms of toxic elements (heavy metals) due to the small content of humus and prone to acidification was specified.
