Abstract The article studies the efficiency of fruit-bearing plants of strawberry in the conditions of Northern Black Sea region. On the basis of long-term experimental data, the duration of operation of commodity plantations has been proved, the structure of harvest, taking into account the biological characteristics of varieties throughout their growth cycle, has been showed. It was found that the plantations of the 1...2nd years of operation are characterized by the highest yields: marketability reaches 84.7...90.2%, including the share of the harvest belonging to the highest class ― 28.6…42.2%. Most age-plantings (4th year of operation) have low yields (3.5...6.1 t/ha), but also have low marketability values (19.7... 43.5%), which leads to conclusion that commercial use causes equivocal results. It was found a definite relationship between the dynamics of fruiting and quality of the crop within the studied varieties in the phase of ontogenesis. The best results compared to the control (variety of Olvia), have been showed by the variety Elsanta and Dukat. Output of marketable products for the whole cycle of growing plants exceeded the control one by 69.4% and 98.8%, respectively.
