Abstract The article is devoted to the study of the influence of the growth regulator Mars EL on seed germination, yield and commodity characteristics of root crops of carrots of Abako and Canada hybrids. The work has scientifically substantiated and proved that the use of the Mars EL preparation is an effective means of protecting cultivated carrots from difficult conditions during its cultivation and provides a significant increase in the yield and marketability of root crops. Also in carrots there was a larger number of leaves (by 2-4 amount) and their mass increased (by 0,5-2,6% of the total mass of the plant) in experimental plots using this drug. The most effective was the use of the Mars EL preparation for soaking seeds (0,2 ml/kg) and spraying cultivated plants (with an interval of 10 days) three times during the growing season (3 ml/100 m2), at which the yield of root crops of the early-ripening Abaco hybrid increased by 12,1 %, the average late hybrid of Canada – by 14,2 %, and the marketability of carrots increased by 6–7 %, respectively.
